So I'm excited to say that levistephens.com is now a one stop shop for "This Way" and all the other really cool merchandise soon to come over the next few weeks!! We've been working really hard to get to this point. Special thanks to my amazing web design team Mike Logan & Eddie Henderson of GMG World Media and the good people over at Nimbit for their help with everything!! As you can see it's been a while since I've blogged, but we've just been really busy laying the ground work for this to be a successful album! By ground work I mean I've been traveling, playing almost every night, shaking hands and kissing babies and trying to get a copy of "This Way" in as many hands as possible. IT'S WORKING TOO!! I have been writing new music in-between, mapping out an acoustic EP of "This Way" and working with some other really amazing artist on their albums as well so you will be seeing/hearing a lot of me over the next year or so! I'm really looking forward to these next few months the possibilities do really seem to be endless… LS

Hey fam! It's been a minute since I posted my last blog so let me bring you up to speed on what's going on in my world… As you know we released "this way" in Jan and since then, this year has been amazing. I've played with and met some really dope artist/musicians, a radio and television interview and I've also been doing some traveling too. "This Way" is getting amazing reviews from online bloggers and other internet publications as well as all the those who bought it.(thank you) We'll also be offering the album and other cool merchandise right here on the site soon! (I'm excited about this) For those of you who keep up with my Tweets you know I've been playing pretty much non stop over the last few months and it's really been crazy hectic at times, but I can't get enough of it!! Everyday it's something new but the one constant… so much love! Thanks!

Hey guys! So I'm here listening to a little Donny Hathaway ("I Believe In Music") and I figured why not blog a little… It's been a crazy and busy last few weeks for me!  Full of ups and yes some downs. Though I'm guessing this is all just the journey of an" indie" artist. Some day I'll be able to share it all on Story Tellers! LOL! I'm always game for the grind though. It really does build character, grit and resolve like nothing else I've ever experienced. The only real downside if it counts as one is that every night I walk off a stage I'm so indebted to my band and my team for their sheer belief in me and this album. I mean these guys  really stand by me even when the immediate compensation is less than gratifying. I want so bad to see them recognized for their efforts on all accounts. I think in the end it's all of our belief in the music and what we're doing. It somehow feels bigger than any of us. Along with that is the fact that the biggest upside to all of this is how everyone responds to the music when they here it! It keeps us going. My father once told me "things of any real value rarely if ever fall into your lap! You have to work and get what you really want!!" I do believe in music and thats why I will never give up! 

Jokingly deemed “the DMV’s India Arie” by Mambo Sauce’s Black Boo, Stephens is often seen at different venues throughout the city, with guitar in tow, playing selected tracks from This Way, his debut album released in January.

After multiple listens to Stephens’ 12-song, 48-minute recording, it is clear that he has great reverence for music’s pioneers. This Way also speaks to Stephens’ willingness to bare his soul, a mission he easily accomplishes while making you think, reflect and dance along the way...

I never realized how much weight and energy words can carry. I guess I never really put much thought into it until several conversations over a period time began to standout.  Now thinking back on those exchanges I noticed that whether it was extremely positive or equally negative the power of what was said still rings in my head and in turn effected in some way my outlook on any number of things!  So for my New Years Resolution, I'm not only going to think more positively, but I'm going to speak positive! Let me first start by saying these last few weeks have been amazing! Thank you to everyone who purchased "This Way" and to everyone who has been giving me crazy love on twitter and facebook even on here! Thank you!  I don't have the exact number of sales yet, but I think we did pretty good for an album that literally came out of nowhere! Lol! I think we may have started something guys :) 

For those who don't know, I've been a full-time songwriter/ producer for about 8 years now. In that time, I've seen music change with the trends of technology much like it always has, but even more so toward a very marketed and demographic based music industry. I can't tell you how many random conversations I've had with music listeners who have all expressed their discontent with the overall quality of most of the music they hear on the radio! I'm not knocking anybody or taking shots because I'm a producer turned artist, and I do understand the business of entertainment. But the truth is when I set out to do "This Way", it was in part an effort to create something timeless. An album that  you could listen to for years to come and that would with any luck, be a step in the direction to help change the status quo! So I need you! You have more power than you know. If you love "This Way", and really feel the heart behind it, then tell a friend, spread the word and "who knows maybe  we can sell a few ring tones!" (When I'm Rich- track 12) Ha! I know you saw that coming! Seriously though, I do believe we can make history! Thank you again for all the overwhelming love and support!

Happy New Year everyone! I think it's still cool to say that up 'til like March or something! Anyway, with everything sort of happening really fast here lately it's been really hard to get by here and really catch you all up on everything. The thing is I tweet/facebook so much that by the time I do settle down to blog about my day to day goings ons, I almost don't have anything to say. Go figure…

So this Friday Jan 22nd is the big day! "This Way' will be out and of course I'm really excited about that! Itunes, Rhapsody, CD Baby and a host of other cool sites will carry it online. I want to thank everyone again who helped me get to this point. I've been putting a lot of thought into how I want this year to play out and it's going to be a lot of hard work to pull this off. With the state of the music industry the way it is, many feel the odds are stacked pretty heavily against what we're trying to do. However, I have an amazing team and support system in my family and friends who believe it can and will be done!  I'm up for the challenge. Plus seeing it all come together is really cool too! I feel like I'm running for public office or something. Earlier I was trying to think up some catchy campaign slogan that I feel fits our cause and because I feel we can I say... "LET'S MAKE HISTORY!"  What do you think?? It maybe a little over the top but it kind of has a ring to it :)

Wow it has been a while! Where to begin?? Well, Happy Holidays to everyone! I trust you all had a good one. My Christmas was great!  a much needed break to spend time with family and friends. Oh and presents are always good too! So, with the holidays/year coming to an end, my focus is on the new year and the release of  “This Way”! And yes, we have a release date now Jan 22nd it will be available on CD Baby and shortly after that, Itunes! So we will be keeping you posted on that as well. On a personal note I’m good, and I’m ready to do this…  I mean I’ve only been waiting for this all my life! I just need to figure out how not to be so anxious…

I’m in a good place right now. A great place actually! I’m anxious but not too anxious. And while I still don’t have an exact release date, I’ve found some peace in knowing that this is just a small part of the process. In the long run, I feel this album is better for it as we are paying close attention to detail with every aspect of it. So I'll say it again...“We’re almost done”! I swear I want everyone to hear this album so bad it keeps me up at night!! Not in a bad way mind you, but that kind of Christmas eve or 1st day of school anxiety/excitement. With that said, since I’ve been in this "place" so to speak, I've had a lot of time to settle my thoughts on me as a person and as an artist. I must say that the artist here before you is a better person than I was a year ago in that these songs now hold me to a certain level of accountability of which I embrace. I think in the process I’ve finally found some comfort living in the skin I’m in. It only took my whole life to get here, but I think I’ll stay for a while…
